In September of 1844, Ralph Waldo Emerson purchased several acres of land on the shores of Walden Pond for his woodlot. These acres would become famous as the home base for Henry David Thoreau during his 2-plus year stay at Walden Pond, which his masterwork Walden was based on.
Join Concord Historian Richard Smith for this guided walk where the history, visitors, and some of the woodlots other inhabitants are further explored.
This program is for ages 12+. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
This program is free; no registration required. Regular parking fees apply at Walden Pond State Reservation. Parking is first come, first served. On sunny days, holidays, and weekends, Walden Pond often closes due to capacity. Please check DCR Park Alerts for closures at mass.gov/park alerts.
