DESCRIPTION:When: Sunday\, September 6\, 11:00 am-12:30 pm\n\nWhere: Walden
  Pond State Reservation\, 915 Walden Street\, Concord\, MA 01742\n\nIn Sep
 tember of 1844\, Ralph Waldo Emerson purchased several acres of land on th
 e shores of Walden Pond for his woodlot. These acres would become famous a
 s the home base for Henry David Thoreau during his 2-plus year stay at Wal
 den Pond\, which his masterwork Walden was based on.\n\nJoin Concord Hist
 orian Richard Smith for this guided walk where the history\, visitors\, an
 d some of the woodlots other inhabitants are further explored.\n\nThis pro
 gram is for ages 12+. All children must be accompanied by an adult.\n\nThi
 s program is free\; no registration required. Regular parking fees apply a
 t Walden Pond State Reservation. Parking is first come\, first served. On 
 sunny days\, holidays\, and weekends\, Walden Pond often closes due to cap
 acity. Please check DCR Park Alerts for closures at mass.gov/park alerts.\
