THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS IN ROME: By Rev. WM. INGRAHAM KIP, M.A. New-York: D. Appleton & Co. 1846.

This is a subject that may be treated with any degree of excellence, according to the knowledge, taste and practical intelligence possessed by the observer; for these ceremonies of the Roman holidays are symbols which contain the substance of many and important series of facts and might yield precious thoughts as to the wants and wishes of human nature. In the volume before us the narrative is given with sufficient liveliness, and we are left at liberty to draw our inferences and make our poetry for ourselves. It will be found among the most desirable of the cheaper holiday gifts.*
