Bookkeeper

Nonprofit organization located in Lincoln, MA seeks a part-time bookkeeper (20-24 hours/week, negotiable).

Public transportation not available.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the general ledger; recording transactions, posting debits and credits;
  • Monitoring loans and accounts to ensure that payments are current;
  • Assisting a part-time CPA with preparing data for annual audit and filing of IRS Form 990;
  • Assisting CPA in completion of other annual filings, including IRS Form 5500SSF, local tax abatement filings and multiple state nonprofit registration forms;
  • Monitoring endowment fund investment portfolio;
  • Making annual contributions to 403(b) plan;
  • Obtaining receipts and making eligible expense reimbursements;
  • Depositing cash and reconciling receipts from seasonal farm stand sales;
  • Completing monthly reconciliation of credit card and balance statements;
  • Making bank transfers;
  • Assisting CPA in developing budgets for special projects and general operations;
  • Assisting CPA in preparing cash flow statements and financial reports;
  • Maintaining personnel files;

Familiarity with Peachtree, Network For Good, Excel and Microsoft Word is desirable.

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and will remain current on federal/state law relating to nonprofit bookkeeping standards and best practices.
