Walden Pond’s first Visitor Center will officially open at a public ceremony on Tuesday, September 27th, at 2 p.m. that will be attended by state officials and Walden Woods Project founder Don Henley.

This event marks an exciting new chapter for our organization involving a partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), which manages the Walden Pond State Reservation. Visitors from near and far (including school groups) will have new opportunities to learn about the life and writings of Thoreau and how they guide us in addressing the environmental and social reform challenges of our time. We are eager to work with DCR in preserving Walden for future generations and in keeping Thoreau’s legacy alive.

RSVPs are not required for attendance. The ceremony will take place, rain or shine, in front of the visitor center on Route 126 in Concord, MA across from Walden Pond.
