Do you have a question about Thoreau—his work, life, family, or friends—that you’ve been eager to ask? Now is your chance, in our Thoreau Q & A session with the WWP Curator of Collections, Thoreau scholar, and author, Jeffrey S. Cramer!

If I am not I, who will be?” Thoreau wrote in his Journal on August 9, 1841.  Find out more about WHO he was in this session where no question is too elementary or too nuanced!

Jeffrey S. Cramer is the Curator of Collections for The Walden Woods Project’s Thoreau Institute Library. He is the editor of Walden: A Fully Annotated Edition (Yale University Press, 2004), which won a 2004 NOBA (National Outdoor Book Award) and a co-winner of the Boston Authors Club’s 2005 Julia Ward Howe Special Award. Cramer’s The Quotable Thoreau (Princeton University Press, 2011) was a recipient of an Umhoefer Prize for Achievement in Humanities in 2011. His most recent book is Solid Seasons: The Friendship of Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson (Counterpoint, 2019).
