Organic Certification

The Farm at Walden Woods received its organic certification in 2015 as part of its commitment to provide nutrient rich produce to consumers while maintaining the health of the land and environment by not using harmful chemicals in the farming process. Going organic means that the use of pesticides, growth-hormones, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), or other chemicals is prohibited, ultimately producing foods that have more vitamins and minerals than those farmed not in accordance with organic standards. The Farm’s commitment to organic also continues The Walden Woods Project’s legacy of environmental stewardship; organic farming helps preserve the ecosystems and biodiversity of the farmland and protects the soil and water sources from becoming contaminated, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the farm.
