 ently.\n\nAbout Lawrence Buell:\n\nLawrence Buell is Powell M. Cabot Profe
 ssor of American Literature Emeritus at Harvard University. Considered one
  of the founders of the ecocriticism movement\, he has written and lecture
 d worldwide on Transcendentalism\, American studies\, and the environmenta
 l humanities. He is the author of many books\, including Literary Transcen
 dentalism\, The Environmental Imagination: Thoreau\, Nature Writing\, and 
 the Invention of American Culture\, Writing for an Endangered World\, and 
 Emerson. \n\nAbout the book:\n\n\nEsteemed Thoreau scholar Lawrence Buell
  presents the first concise account of Thoreau’s life\, thought\, and im
 pact in more than half a century.  His book offers a highly readable entr
 y-point for readers unfamiliar with this author\, agitator\, naturalist\, 
 and sage that is packed with new insights sure to interest seasoned schola
