DESCRIPTION:Henry Thoreau was a lifelong observer of the colorful leaves th
 at surrounded his native Concord every autumn\, and he kept copious notes 
 on the yearly change of colors. In the final years of his life\, he put th
 ese observations into a lecture that he called "Autumnal Tints." It was on
 e of the last essays that he worked on before his death in 1862.\n\nJoin C
 oncord historian and Thoreau scholar Richard Smith as he tells the story o
 f Thoreau and "Autumnal Tints." Afterward\, Richard and Park Interpreter J
 acqui Kluft will lead a short walk to show visitors some of the plants dis
 cussed in the essay.\n\nThis event will take place at the Walden Pond Visi
 tors Center from 12-2 pm on October 12.
