        DESCRIPTION OF TOPIC: We have found no clear indication which lecture Thoreau delivered his second evening in Worcester, but we conjecture he delivered his other "new" lecture, written a little more than a year earlier, "An Excursion to the Maine Woods," which eventually became "The Allegash and East Branch" chapter in The Maine Woods. He had already delivered before Worcester audiences the other two lectures that were still in his portfolio at this time, "What Shall It Profit" and "Walking, or the Wild."
