World Wide Waldens: a global, web-based environmental program for youth

This new environmental program empowers young people from around the world to become environmental stewards and find their 'Walden' -- a place needing care and protection. Find yours and share your environmental project.

Activity Guide

To help you get started on your environmental project, download the World Wide Waldens Activity Guide.  In addition, you will find a variety of activities and opportunities  for your students, including an annual essay contest and journal prompts inspired by Thoreau's writings. 

Walden Youth Gatherings

The Walden Woods Project's Thoreau Institute also hosts an annual gathering  for high school students who demonstrate a commitment to protecting the environment.
