On Tuesday, September 14, 2004, Allen Hershkowitz, Senior Scientist with the Natural Resources Defense Council and author of Bronx Ecology: Blueprint for a New Environmentalism, gave a talk entitled "Barriers to Sustainable Industrial Development."
Hershkowitz discussed the work he is currently doing in a critical temperate forest zone along the southern Appalachians. He also shared a lot of the statistics and many anecdotes about his project to build a recycled paper mill in the heart one of the Bronx's poorest neighborhoods.
