The Stewardship Lectures 2004

February 5, 2004

On Thursday February 5, 2004, Bob Durand, James Levitt, and Sharon McGregor presented a panel at the Walden Woods Project's Thoreau Institute entitled "Conservation Innovation in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts."

James Levitt offered an historical interpretation of conservation in the region that traced its origins to the creation of the Boston Common in 1634.  Sharon McGregor and Bob Durand discussed several of the environmental initiatives that they championed while working for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, including the Community Preservation Act, the Watershed Initiative, and the BioMap
