The Walden Woods Project offers seasonal week-end workshops for educators to reflect on our lives and teaching through an exploration of the natural world in Walden Woods and beyond. These gatherings use encounters with the natural world as a focus for reflection on the connection between who we are with what we do.

Exploring Language & Landscape, Art & Culture

Saturday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm and Sunday 8:30 am - 1 pm
Presented by the Monarch Teacher Network and hosted by the Walden Woods Project
Where: Thoreau Institute at Walden Woods at 44 Baker Farm Road, Lincoln, MA
Who Should Attend: Teachers ranging from pre-K through high school level; informal educators are welcome, too.
Workshop Description: Voices from the Land uses a natural landscape as inspiration for workshop participants to explore the power of written and oral language, digital photography, performing arts, online publishing… and the power of working collaboratively with other people. Through the Voices process, students design and publish books and/or posters showcasing their art and poetry and sharing it with their school, community, and beyond.

What to Bring: Dress for the weather. This workshop will be canceled only in the event of severe weather.
Cost: $99 - Grant-funded scholarships are available to sponsor a limited number of educators at a rate of $50 per person. Space is limited; applications are accepted on a first-come first serve basis.
