Congressman
Marty Meehan represented the Fifth Congressional District of
Massachusetts until 2007. His top priorities included supporting the men
and women of our Armed Services, working to make our communities clean and
crime-free for families, and providing people the education they need to
compete in a global workplace. In Washington, Representative Meehan called
for Congress and the President to develop an energy plan that invests in
renewable fuels and hybrid technology, and he led the fight against
Republican efforts to drill for oil in our national parks. Here in
Massachusetts, he fought for protections for our natural treasures,
including 3,600 acres of national wildlife refuge land.
Marty Meehan has been named Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts
at Lowell, his alma mater.
