Conuel Thomas
Conuel is a natural history writer with a special interest in rivers,
land use, and water issues. He is an adjunct professor of journalism at
Boston University's College of Communication and holds a Master's degree
in journalism from Boston University. He has worked as a newspaper
reporter and editor, as well as the founding editor of a weekly
community newspaper, The West
He is the author of the nonfiction book Quabbin: the Accidental Wilderness, (University of Massachusetts Press, 1991), the story of how four towns and six villages in the Swift River Valley of Massachusetts were leveled and flooded to make way for Quabbin Reservoir, the water supply for Boston and 43 other cities and towns. He is also the co-author of The Nature of Massachusetts, (Addison-Wesley, 1996), and Field Editor for Sanctuary magazine, published by the Massachusetts Audubon Society. He has published over 50 nonfiction magazine articles.
He is currently working on a book about the conflicts in understanding and treating autism titled "The Autism Wars."
