The Eternal Beginning

Available in both regular and limited editions

Why do so many first-time travelers to the Serengeti region feel such a strange affinity to this amazing, wondrous land of infinite grasslands teeming with animals? Could it be the awakening of some mysterious long-ago memory coming from deep within our DNA … coming from the time when all mankind began in this part of the world—a time that was indeed “the eternal beginning”?

Boyd Norton, renowned photographer and writer, Serengeti: The Eternal Beginning, the culmination of more than twenty-seven years of Norton’s many travels to the Serengeti. In both vivid photographs and text, it showcases the majesty and greatness of this wild and breathtaking land, home to one of the largest migrations of animals remaining in the world. Norton was selected as “one of the 40 most influential nature photographers from around the globe” by Outdoor Photography Magazine (UK). He has received commendation from the Environmental Protection Agency, presented by Robert Redford, for his “important, exciting environmental photography and writing,” and has played a key role in the establishment of several wilderness areas in the Rocky Mountains, new national parks in Alaska, and in the designation of Siberia’s Lake Baikal as a World Heritage Site. Norton’s articles and photo essays have appeared in several major magazines, and he is the author-photographer of sixteen books.
